NEWS AND SOCIAL | MG AND AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS SUPPORT TEST DRIVE FOR A DIFFERENCE

For the second year in succession, MG Motor Australia and New Zealand will donate $5 from every test drive undertaken across its extensive dealer network in December to the Australian Red Cross.

This year, Test Drive For A Difference will directly help young Aussies by providing funds for the continued operation of an important youth homelessness resource in Brisbane.

More than 90 dealers across Australia and New Zealand will generate more than $20,000.

Located in Brisbane City Hall, the Night Café is run by Young Centre Staff and volunteers, and provides a safe, welcoming place where young people who are experiencing homelessness or sleeping rough can find support to address their immediate needs such as food, clothing, and a warm shower.

Approximately 2,400 visits to the Night Café are registered per year.

“We are delighted that MG Motor Australia is yet again supporting us through Test Drive For A Difference, further strengthening the relationship we’ve had over the past two years,” said Supipi Jayawardena, Head of Partnerships.

“We are continually humbled by the MG community’s response, which funds important work assisting community members in vulnerable situations.”

In an average year, Red Cross helps 2,180 people to find housing, supports 1,360 people at risk of becoming homeless, and provides 43,400 meals to people experiencing hardship.

“The Australian Red Cross is an incredibly important organisation, and we applaud them for their wonderful work in the area of youth homelessness,” said MG Motor CEO Peter Ciao. “It is only through the work of such dedicated people that the very real issue of young Aussies without a place to sleep can be successfully tackled. Thank you, Australian Red Cross!”
